Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher C.J. Wilson to undergo arthroscopic surgery – MLB Update
According to recent news, Los Angeles Angels' starting pitcher C.J. Wilson will receive a potential procedure on his left elbow to remove bone spurs.
Wilson has just finished his 2012 Major League Baseball regular season campaign but before the game against the Seattle Mariners, he told some reporters that he has been playing with this injury for last couple of months as now is the perfect time to get a procedure done.
"I tried to make a million adjustments to get around it, to the point where now I'm standing on the first-base side, trying to get an angle because I can't throw sinkers anymore because my arm doesn't work right, But you're paid to go out there play," Wilson told reporters.
Angels, who could not qualify into the postseason also confirmed that Wilson will undergo arthroscopic surgery which will ensure his potential place in the next Major League season as well.
Wilson told the reporters how certain he is on his future playing chances in the league as he said, "I bounced back pretty well the last couple of years after that, So I'm looking at that with a lot of optimism."
Wilson went 3.83 ERA along with 13-10 win-loss record in this year’s competition. His performance remained persistent, but he still wants to be more consistent in the coming seasons.
“It's one of those things where you push yourself through anything because your job is to go out there and pitch, The coaching staff, the training staff have been really great," said Wilson.
A seven year Major League veteran, Wilson came into the Angels’ franchise in 2012 after spending some six years in the Texas Rangers. His move to sign with the Angels was considered to be huge as he was already settled in the Rangers franchise.
Meanwhile, Angels also signed St. Louis Cardinals’ Albert Pujols along with Wilson last winter which sparked Los Angeles’ chances to win this year’s World Series but as the season progressed, the side could not show their true game and lost the chance to play in the postseason.
