Los Angeles Angels still optimistic for C. J. Wilson – MLB News
The Los Angeles Angels are still looking optimistic to sign free agent C. J. Wilson who has been also linked with several other Major League teams in the recent past including the Florida Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago White Sox.
Now joining the Angels’ franchise would be his decision but Wilson’s agent is not yet claiming anything which tells the hidden reality of late negotiations between C. J. Wilson and the Angels' management.
After the 2011 MLB season, C. J. Wilson became free agent when the Texas Rangers declined exercising any team options on him for the next season. Though, the Rangers did not exercise team options on Wilson but many officials from the Rangers franchise still
believe that he will be on the Rangers roster next season. Many meeting have been conducted between the Rangers' management and Wilson’s agent but still any official news is yet to come out in the media regarding any development.
On the other hand, the speculations relating to Wilson’s arrival in the Angels franchise is getting stronger while many experts also believe that Wilson should start a new career with the Angels.
Recently, the Angels' general manager Jerry Dipoto commented during the MLB Winter Meeting in Milwaukee for Wilson’s free agency and what possible ways to sign him. Dipoto also stated in detail about how the Angels management is going to bring new players
in for the next MLB season.
He said, “I don't know that his negotiation is holding anything up, you move at the pace the market moves. With free agents, the choice is theirs. I don't believe any one guy is the initial domino that has to fall in order to make other moves. We're trying
to improve the club in a variety of different ways; we’re not hyper-focused on any one target as being the guy who puts us in the World Series.”
Next few days will be very significant for Wilson’s free agency as the Angels are getting even closer to signing him for 2012. His past affiliation with the Rangers is somehow went very successful but on the whole, he needs to test his skills for further
future successes with some other team in the league.
