Los Angeles Angels surpass Kansas City Royals 4-3 – MLB Recap
Los Angeles Angels surpassed the Kansas City Royals 4-3 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, September 16 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
Angels’ upfront offence played aggressive from start of the game and won in style. They did not give any loop-holes during the entire game and eventually won in the end.
"Our bullpen came in and just got out after out in a game where they've got some guys that can drive the ball on their side where one mistake can tie the game, These guys are pitching with their backs against the wall did a great job," Angels' manager Mike Scioscia said on his team’s performance and explained some different aspects of their win.
Scioscia added with confidence, "We're in a situation where we have to pay attention to the standings, Everything is not totally in our control, but if we keep winning you keep pressure on the teams. Forget winning series. We're talking about winning every pitch. That's where we are.”
Angels’ pitchers and hitters did very well in the field and outclassed their opponents with great focus. Starter Dan Haren pitched 5.2 innings and allowed only three runs and five hits. He struck-out five and received one homer on his 4.41 ERA.
Later none of the Angels’ relievers allowed any run and earned a great win. Along with pitchers, the Angels' batters also performed beautifully and kept the Royals’ pitchers under pressure during the entire game.
Shortstop Erick Aybar scored one run and smashed three hits on his four at-bats. He remained calm on the plate and maintained his slugging percentage at .419.
Royals’ pitchers on the other hand, did not play well and lost the game with bitter humiliation. They played under pressure and did not show their offensive game.
Starter Will Smith pitched five innings and received four runs and seven hits. He spoiled the game with his lame performance. He struck-out only two and received one homer on his 5.08 ERA.
