Los Angeles Angels trade starting pitcher Ervin Santana to Kansas City Royals – MLB Update
The Los Angeles Angels’ took a major decision on Wednesday when they traded one of their most consistent players in the roster, Ervin Santana.
Angels’ traded Ervin Santana to Kansas City Royals for a Minor League left hander Brandon Sisk.
"We're proud to have him, and he certainly fits with what we're doing in 2013," Kansas City general manager Dayton Moore said for Santana’s arrival.
"I have to realize that this is a business, I just have to accept it and move on. It's going to be hard because I've known my teammates for a long time, but now I'm going to have new teammates. I can't wait to meet them in person and hang out," Santana said in detail.
Santana added with confidence, "I don't have any physical problems, everything was good. I just have bad luck. I was pitching good, and I didn't have the opportunity to win a lot of games."
This is a key development in the Angels’ franchise whose management had already indicated that they will be making some changes in the roster in this coming offseason.
Santana finished 2012 Major League Baseball season with 5.16 ERA along with 9-13 win-loss, 133 strike-outs and 1.27 WHIP. While his seven-year career 4.33 ERA, 96-80 win-loss, 1167 strike-outs and 1.30 WHIP also makes him a good player in the league.
He was playing in the Angels since 2005 and performing well. Though he was putting a decent performance but it was the bad result the Angels team showed at the end of this year’s competition that led them to trade him.
Angels finished in third position of the American League West Division with 89-73 win-loss along with .549 winning percentage.
Experts also believe that now Santana will be more comfortable as he is going to join the Kansas City Royals. The team already needed a good pitcher and now they got one. With Santana, Royals’ chances have increased to do well in the next Major League outing.
They finished third in the American League Central Division with 72-90 win-loss along with .444 winning percentage.
