Los Angeles Angels traded Kendrys Morales to Seattle Mariners – MLB Update
The Los Angeles Angels finally completed their starting rotation by trading designated hitter Kendrys Morales to Seattle Mariners and in-exchange, they have received starting pitcher Jason Vargas.
"Jason's a four-pitch guy, The changeup's the weapon. That's his out pitch. That's been his calling card since he's been in the big leagues,” Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto said.
He added, "He throws strikes, pitches to contact, has that changeup that can get them out of jams. Our ballpark suits him well and our outfield defense should allow him to maximize his ability."
Both teams with their initial statements are quite happy about this recent trade. Mariners, who were certainly short of a good hitter in the recent past Major League Baseball season, now have Morals while Angels, who were searching hard for a good starter
now, will have the services of Jason Vargas.
Morales has been playing in the Los Angeles Angels since 2006 and considered one of the top Major League hitters. He has won many games for the Angels in the past and now will start a good beginning with the Seattle Mariners.
Last year, playing for his long time franchise the Los Angeles Angels, Morales showed consistent plays throughout the season. He finished with great numbers and achieved .273 hitting average along with 22 home runs, 73 RBIs and .320 OBP.
On the other hand, his career hitting average of .281 along with 79 home-runs, 265 RBIs and .331 OBP. These stats show that he certainly will provide a good offence to the Mariners.
Meanwhile, the Angels have received Jason Vargas from the Mariners after sending Morales. Vargas is an also a good addition in the Angels as their starting rotation now will be completed.
"Me and Jered are still real good friends, He was one of the first people I talked to when I found out I was no longer a Seattle Mariner. It's exciting to wear the same uniform as my college teammate," Vargas said
Vargas’ consistent power plays are also a good factor for the Angels. Last season, he was quite exceptional on the mound and performed with big heart.
