Los Angeles Angels trounce Cleveland Indians 3-0 – MLB Update
The Los Angeles Angels trounced the Cleveland Indians 3-0 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, July 2, at Progressive Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Angels played as one unit and never allowed the Indians to take control of the game as they kept them under pressure and won in the end.
Jered Weaver remained scoreless and proved one of the winning factors for the Angels.
He pitched seven innings and remained confident on the mound as he struck-out two with his ERA remaining consistent at 2.13.
"I don't know the last time that happened, me getting out of something like that, You want to lock it in when you get in a situation like that. I was able to make some pitches. You have to make some better pitches and keep those guys off balance as much as possible." said Weaver on his performance.
Later Johnny Damon commented on Weaver and his tremendous ball play which gave the Angels’ a tremendous win over the Indians, "He is a very good pitcher, But unfortunately I let the team down. He's a pitcher. He knows what to do. He knows when to flip that slow curveball in there and when to throw his changeup. He has control over every pitch."
Angels’ from start of the game put the Indians’ under extreme pressure and never allowed them to score a single run.
On the other hand, the Los Angeles Angels’ batting line-up stood tall against the Indians' rotation and smashed them with three runs.
Ubaldo Jimenez, who despite having a great record against the Angels, did not play well in this particular game. He gave too many way-ward deliveries and was smashed for three runs on eight hits. He also gave three earned runs as his ERA rose to 4.59.
This series is still alive with two games yet to play. The Angels as well as the Indians still have an even chance to take away the series and increase their win-loss records. Both teams will be looking to battle it out and take the series.
