Los Angeles Clippers acquire Willie Green; Matt Barnes gets arrested – NBA News Roundup
Los Angeles Clippers land Willie Green in a trade with Atlanta Hawks
The Los Angeles Clippers have reached an agreement with Atlanta Hawks to acquire Willie Green in a trade and in return, they would be giving up the rights to a former second round draft pick Sofoklis Schortsanitis.
Green is a former teammate of Chris Paul and can work alongside him in the Clippers roster. Both were present with the New Orleans Hornets in 2010 before going their separate ways.
A draft pick of 2003 by the Seattle SuperSonics, Green came to Atlanta prior to the start of last season. In his one year with the Hawks, he averaged 7.6 points while only getting a playing time of around 17.4 minutes. Green holds a career average of 9.1 points to go along with 1.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists in the nine years he has spent in the NBA.
The other half of this deal, Schortsanitis was a draft prospect of the Clippers, who selected him in 2003 early in the second round. However contract complications with his then team, Olympiacos did not allow him to land in NBA at that time. Last season, he played for Greek giants Panathinaikos.
