Los Angeles Clippers brush aside Charlotte Bobcats 100-94 to win their 8th straight: NBA Recap
Chris Paul scored 19 points and dished out 10 dimes in a 100-94 Los Angeles Clippers win over a pesky Charlotte Bobcats squad on Wednesday night here at Time Warner Cable Arena. The Clippers extended their winning streak to 8 games,
matching the franchise best ever record while Charlotte dropped their 9th straight.
“We can't make any excuses. It took us a little while to get going, but we pulled it out. We just play hard out there. We have so many offensive weapons sometimes that people forget about the other choices like me or (Lamar Odom).
We just have to find the right spot and know that our guards will find us." said Clippers forward Matt Barnes.
Blake Griffin posted 19 points and 5 rebounds while Matt Barnes also posted 19 points in a balanced performance by the Clips on the offensive.
Byron Mullens led the Bobcats with 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds; Kemba Walker gathered 17 points and dished out 6 assists while Bismack Biyombo felled one rebound shy of a double-double as he finished off with 10 points and
9 rebounds for the night.
Griffin had some magnificent dunks throughout the game and he slammed one home early in the first period to put the Clippers up by 10-5. The Bobcats went in front for a brief period before a Green jumper gave the lead back to the
Clips and Griffin’s layup pushed it to 16-11. Jamal Crawford sank a three pointer to put the Clippers up 21-15 before the Bobcats came back to tie the score on 21 near the end of the period.
The Clippers were up 27-22 after a pair of Eric Bledsoe free throws early in the second period. Ramon Sessions knocked down a three pointer for the Bobcats to cut the deficit to 28-32 but the Clips kept their distance and a Barnes
alley oop pushed the lead to 10 points at the 6 minute mark. Charlotte slashed the deficit down to 44-49 by the end of the period.
It was still a close game with no team making major runs and piling on a significant lead. The Bobcats reduced the deficit to 55-58 early in the third period but the Clips maintained their distance throughout the quarter. Paul
scored one from foul line to put the Clippers up 66-59 and a buzzer beating layup by Bledsoe had them leading 78-71 by the end of the period.
It was still a three point game on 78-81 for the Bobcats when the Clippers went for a 7 nil run to jump up 88-78 with 5:47 on the regulation. Barnes nailed a three pointer to put Los Angeles up 94-85 and they cruised to a 110-94
win in the end.
