Los Angeles Clippers complete historic comeback for 99 – 98 win over the Memphis Grizzlies – NBA Recap - Part 2
After the interval Los Angeles Clippers scored 5 consecutive points before a Mike Conley 3-pointer stopped their momentum from building up. Another long range effort from Conley ignited a 13 – 2 sprint for the Memphis Grizzlies that took them to a 76 – 50
advantage.  The home side kept on scoring in little bursts throughout the period, resulting in an 85 – 64 advantage at the end of the third frame.
The 4th and final quarter though was filled with many surprises. The Grizzlies looked calm at the beginning and stretched their lead to 95 – 71. What followed was a devastating 26 – 1 rally by Los Angeles that left the Grizzlies and the whole
arena in complete shock, and put the Clippers ahead at 97 – 96.
Memphis just didn’t execute at all and none of their shots fell, while things clicked for Los Angeles, who pulled close with 3 consecutive treys by Nick Young and Reggie Evans put them ahead with a layup.
When Chris Paul sank his free throws at the end, Rudy g*y couldn’t manage his shot to fall at the other end, handing Los Angeles a stunning 99 – 98 win.
Lionel Hollins, the Memphis head coach, was at a loss to exactly pinpoint the reason for the defeat. He just said his side simply didn’t execute, while Clippers did.
"It's the little things that cost you in games like this and playoff games aren't meant to be blowouts. Sometimes they are, but when you have two evenly matched teams, you can expect that both teams are going to be in the game at the end. The Clippers got
back to win the game. We just didn't make enough plays and they did."
All the Grizzlies went cold in the final quarter, including g*y who managed to score a few and ended the game with 19 points, team high, and 7 rebounds. Marc Gasol had 14 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds. Conley had 17 points and 8 assists while O.J. Mayo
came off the bench for 17 as well.
Clippers had trailed by as much as 27 points, so it was as much a shock to them as it was to everyone else when they ended up winning.
"I don't think I've been part of a game like that ever," Clippers forward Blake Griffin said. "It was unbelievable."
