Los Angeles Clippers star Chris Paul defends Carmelo Anthony - NBA Update
Jeremy Lin’s rise to stardom within a period of one month has been one exciting tale.
Lin has completely dominated the NBA headlines over this 3-4 weeks period with his outstanding play and he is now being perceived as the best player in the team - the New York Knicks. The team too seems to be thrilled with all
this and enjoying the success of their young point guard.
“Linsanity” has made every one forget about the Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, who has been leading the team for a long time, and in fact few are also raising the questions, whether Carmelo is required in the team anymore or not?
Los Angeles Clippers point guard, Chris Paul, just like everyone else has been following the “Linsanity” for a month now, and although he is impressed with the his emergence, he still believes Carmelo is the Knicks main weapon.
“At the end of the day, Jeremy has played amazing, it’s been three weeks, something like that,’’ the Clippers guard said “'Melo has been doing it for nine years. We all tend to forget how great a player he is. At the end of the
day, it starts with 'Melo and ends with 'Melo.’’
Paul completely denied the notion that Carmelo’s inclusion in the team is going to disrupt the team’s current chemistry.
“I was surprised about it,’’ Paul said. “The Jeremy Lin thing has been great. It’s great to see him doing well and the Knicks doing well. But that’s something everybody shouldn’t be trying to throw on 'Melo, or to throw on Jeremy.
Those guys aren’t worried about that situation. It’s more the media.’’
Anthony’s recurrent injuries this shortened season have kept him away from action most of the time. Before Jeremy’s heroics, when Knicks were struggling to find any sort of momentum, the team defended themselves by reasoning that
it was due to Anthony’s absence, however all of a sudden, the things have turned around and now Anthony’s role in team is being questioned by everyone.
Anthony has been in NBA for a long time now and is easily one of the best players in the league. In the Knicks upcoming games, he surely would step up and give up few phenomenal performances to shut the critics up and to prove
Chris Paul’s statement true.
