Los Angeles Clippers to readdress issues, come back stronger next season – NBA Update
The Los Angeles Clippers may be out of the NBA playoffs after a sweep by the San Antonio Spurs, but spirits at the franchise are still high. The Clipper believe they are just at the start of a cycle of success for the club and have shown resolve to come
back stronger next season and continue their progress.
Los Angeles Clippers have a good young core to the team and superstars in the shape of Blake Griffin and Chris Paul. While the explosive Griffin is a fan favourite and a young player the Clippers see growing in the future, it is Paul who transformed the
club to a playoffs side this year with his terrific play.
Add to it fine young players such as Eric Bledsoe and DeAndre Jordan and the Clippers have the foundations of a very strong team indeed. The management at the club know this, but they also know that the team has weaknesses and will be doing their all to
readdress them this summer.
One spot highlighted in the series against San Antonio was the lack of size at the shooting guard position.
"We got exposed a little bit with our size at the (shooting guard position)," Clippers GM Neil Olshey said. "We need to get more of a traditional 2-guard. One that can guard size with a post game."
Olshey also stated that the Clippers will be looking to bring in someone in the front court who can shoot the ball well, giving them more options.
"We're going to add a third big that can stretch the floor," he said. "I think we became a little bit predictable late in the season.”
The front office believe they are in a good position to get the players they want and said playing in the post season was great for the franchise as it showed them their strengths and weaknesses.
"We'll address those things via trade or via free agency. The nice thing was, playing two separate series; Memphis played one game, it was a rugby match and we won that one. We got into a chess match with San Antonio and we lost. So it gives us a window
into where our strengths and weaknesses are, and we'll shore them up."
The Clippers fans are surely in for an exciting summer as their team looks to bring in reinforcements.
