Los Angeles Custody Assistants and a CCW?

i was wondering if i would be able to obtain a California Concealed weapons permit as a custody assistant for off-duty protection. the thing is i am 19, and I'm pretty sure the law in California states you must be 21 to even own a handgun, but i do know there are special circumstances. if i can get anyone else's insight onto this issue, i would appreciate it.

Hello Julio. You are correct that you must be 21 to own a handgun. Other rules apply for a CCW permit as well.

Since state laws can vary, the best way to set yourself up for when you turn 21 is to stop in at your local Sheriff's Department and pick up a CCW application. It will spell out exactly what is required in your state. This will give you two years to get everything in line,
