Los Angeles Dodgers' outfielder Matt Kemp suffers knee contusion – MLB News
The Los Angeles Dodgers' veteran outfielder Matt Kemp has suffered a knee contusion after colliding into the centre field fence.
Not only his knee but his jaw was also hit next to the fence which knocked him unconscious for a little while in a game against the Colorado Rockies.
Later the Dodgers’ management revealed in the media that their player is alright and a CT scan is scheduled to check any further complications regarding his bruised knee and jaw.
"With that kind of hit, I expect he'll be out tomorrow for sure," manager Don Mattingly said.
After his collision, Don Mattingly also quoted Kemp and said, "He was talking fine -- 'Just give me a second, He was actually funny -- 'I'm not coming out of this game, I'm not coming out of this game.”
Later Mattingly commented to the media of Kemp’s attempt to catch that particular fly ball and said, "That's when he felt the knee, It looked like he was laboring on the ball."
Pitcher Chris Capuano also said, "It was scary, He goes out and plays hard with no regard for his body. You like that as a pitcher, but your heart sinks when he hits the wall that hard and you hope he's all right."
Kemp, who was playing quite nicely in the second half of the season and now needs proper rest of some four to five days before a potential comeback.
If his CT scan comes without any serious injury, Kemp will be joining the team in the next important series against the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants.
However if his CT scan results show slight concerns over his knee or jaw, Kemp will miss some potential time which automatically bring enough trouble to the Dodgers in order to move forward into the post season.
Before Kemp’s recent injury, he was playing with .337 hitting average along with 17 home-runs, 54 RBIs and .404 OBP.
Meanwhile, Kemp who has six years experience behind him is considered one of the best players in the Major League and possesses some extraordinary skills which also makes him a productive player. He also has great career stats of .297 hitting, 145 homers, 511 RBIs and .355 OBP.
