Los Angeles Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw awaits a decision after ejection – MLB News
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ are holding their breath for a pending decision that will determine the fate their ace Clayton Kershaw for rest of the season. On Wednesday, September 14 Kershaw faced ejection after his pitch hit Arizona Diamondbacks’ outfielder
Gerardo Parra on the elbow.
Kershaw, scheduled to pitch on Tuesday, said he thinks he will pitch on Tuesday. "As far as I know, I'm pitching Tuesday," said Kershaw, who had not heard from the office of MLB executive vice president Joe Torre, Kershaw's former manager whose office handles
discipline.
There has barely been any starter since 1990 who has won as many games as Clayton Kershaw. Having won 19
games so far, Kershaw is an invaluable addition to the talented Los Angeles Dodgers’ side.
If Kershaw is given the opportunity to make the remaining two starts, one more win will make him the first player from the Dodgers to have 20 wins for over two decades now.
Soon after the incident, the Dodgers’ manager Don Mattingly came forward to engage in a long argument with plate umpire Bill Welke who called a quick trigger because of the hit. It resulted in the ejection of the team manager as well.
"I think, in my mind, the reason [Welke] jumped the gun, it was almost like he anticipated trouble," said Mattingly. "It's over. I'm sure something minor will come out of it, but I'm sure nothing major. I don't plan on it being a big deal. You look at the
video. There should be no effect on Clayton's next start.”
With a 2.30 ERA, Clayton Kershaw continues to spell-bound both his fans and critics alike this season. He has so had 31 starts with over 218.2 innings pitched whereby he has had 236 strike-outs and above all, 19 wins for the team. His WHIP stands at 0.98.
Equally and more importantly, his career ERA stands at 2.90 which in itself is an indicator of his rapidly improving performance. With 733 strike-outs to his credit and 45 wins so far, Kershaw is an incredibly talented ace representing his team.
As Kershaw faces ejection and his fate is unknown for rest of the starts, his team continues to strive. Having had remained in the 16th position in the Major League Baseball ranking with 73 wins, the Los Angeles Dodges stand third in the Western
Division behind the Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants.
It will now be interesting to see what decision awaits the Dodgers’ starter. His team, however, expects that it will be good news not only for Kershaw but for the Dodgers as well. His presence in the team is desperately needed at this crucial time in the
season.
