Los Angeles Dodgers: Looking for a successful 2013 season – MLB Feature
Ever the since the Los Angeles Dodgers were taken over by new management with Magic Johnson from the Los Angeles Lakers spearheading their efforts, the team is looking to make major inroads during the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season.
It seems that with the new management came a renewed vigour to acquire players at any cost and fix the line-up. The Dodgers are a solid team and many baseball experts know that you should never underestimate their efforts on the field. The team is capable
of great feats which have been proven time and again.
During the offseason, other teams are looking at the Dodgers as a very serious threat as it seems the money is flowing and that there is no stopping the team from grabbing up some major talent for success.
After spending US$ 2.3 billion for the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Guggenheim Baseball Management made their intentions very clear. The Dodgers want to do just one thing and that is to win. Former Los Angeles Laker and investor Magic Johnson said, "We are out
to win. We are out to win for the fans. It's a new day in Dodger Town."
Nobody can argue that team does not possess top quality players as the Dodgers have shown time and again that they are a very powerful unit when things go their way. The Dodgers ended their 2012 regular season sitting second behind the mighty San Francisco
Giants in the National League West Division with an 86-76 win-loss record. Los Angeles was only eight games behind the Giants which eventually went on to win the World Series title.
The NL West Division is packed with some very talented teams like the Colorado Rockies, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks. Each one of the teams on any given day has the capability to putting up a decent fight against the Dodgers.
The fact that the Dodgers were unable to make it to the 2012 MLB postseason was a serious disappointment for the team. Ironically they lost their chances of making it to the postseason in their final series against the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers were
close but unfortunately they were unable to squeeze their way into the postseason.
Players like Clayton Kershaw, Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier managed to put in good performance for the Dodgers during the regular season. Regardless of who joins the team, the Dodgers entire team culture has changed. The feeling that they can do anything and
win has now seeped into the team mentality. Even the body language of the players has turned positive as the team is looking to make positive strides in the 2013 season.
Many baseball pundits and experts feel that the Dodgers have a really good chance of winning big in 2013. When the team management is supportive and eager to take positive steps, the team is beginning to change for the better.
The competition across town against the Los Angeles Angels will be fierce as both teams are loaded with talent and are looking to win. If the Dodgers are able to soak up the pressure and come out strong in the first half of the 2013 regular season they will
have an excellent foundation to help them carry their momentum to a possible postseason spot.
Only time will tell if the Dodgers renewed spirit and motivation is enough to help them dominate next year.
