Los Angeles Dodgers’ Ted Lilly to miss start against the Kansas City Royals due to flu-like symptoms
A problem has struck the Los Angeles Dodgers Camp, as the club’s appointed starting pitcher Ted Lilly will be out from the game against Kansas City on Wednesday, due to Flu-like symptoms. Tim Redding who has already started in split-squad games, according
to club’s officials will replace the position.
The team has developede a new line-up that has Luis Vasquiez, Ramon Troncoso, Scott Elbert, and Carlos Monasterios. Dodgers’ Manager, Don Mattingly has decided to start the game with Redding, who will be backed up by Carlos Monasterios and Scott Elbert.
It is the second season of Redding with the Dodgers, as he was traded to the team in July 2010 for Blake DeWitt, Kyle Smit and Brett Wallach. He proved his trade a good decision for Dodgers, as he managed a 3.52 Earned Run Average with 7-4 record in 12 games.
He was at his best when he completely shutout the Colorado Rockies on 19 August 2010.
The 35-year-old left-handed starting pitcher began his Major League Baseball career in 1999 for the Montréal Expos against Pittsburgh Pirates. He has posted 113-96 with 4.18 ERA and forced 1,474 batters to leave the ground with strike-outs.
According to experts, the club has selected a good pitcher as a replacement of Veteran Ted Lilly. It would certainly help the Dodger team to have the experienced 33-year-old former New York Mets pitcher Redding on their side.
Last year, Redding first joined the Colorado Rockies for a Minor League deal in January, but soon moved to the New York Yankees in May for another contract. Despite his frequent trades, he managed to earn the International League pitcher of the week award
in the first part of August. He was later traded to the Samsung Lions, a Korean franchise baseball team.
It was evident from his performance in the Korean League that he will be back in Major League Baseball soon. The predictions from the experts came true when Reddy joined the Dodgers for a contract. The team had given him indication to enter into Spring Training
and now he will be the starting pitcher in next game for Dodgers.
