Los Angeles Dodgers agree to talk with Bobby Abreu – MLB News
Veteran outfielder Bobby Abreu is likely to join the Los Angeles Dodgers. Reports are coming that the former Los Angeles Angels’ ace player Bobby Abreu is now seeking a potential contract with the South Los Angeles baseball franchise.
The entire Dodgers’ management is also very excited on the arrival of the experienced Abreu’s in their roster. Dodgers management also knows that how significant part he can play for them in the coming future as well. The current Dodgers manager Don Mattingly
is also a great admirer of Abreu’s game.
He has recently said, "Bobby's a guy, obviously, who's been a great hitter his whole career, and kinda makes us, we feel like, incrementally a little bit better, He gives us a chance to be a little bit better. You hear the rumors Bobby's bad in the clubhouse.
I've never seen any of that, he was the opposite. With Melky (Cabrera) and Robby (Cano) over in New York, he's the guy that helped both of those guys with the strike zone, helped those guys out."
Abreu has a lot of experience in Major League Baseball playing for several teams including Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels.
During his almost 16-year MLB career, he has achieved a number of awards as well. Starting from Philadelphia Phillies Player of the Year award in 1999, he went on to achieve this honour for two more years in 2000 and 2001. Two-time All Star, a Gold Glove including
a Silver Slugger award, Abreu is also the winner of 2005 Home Run Derby winner.
With so much experience and having won so many awards, Abreu’s arrival in the Dodgers’ roster is certainly a good sign. He will not only bring consistency into the roster, but his affiliation with the Dodgers will also help him in extending his career.
Abreu is coming in the Dodgers roster with his career hitting average of .293 along with 284 home-runs, 1330 RBIs and .396 OBP. It will be exciting to see what type of impact the experienced Abreu will have for the Dodgers this season.
