Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals rained out in third outing – MLB Update
The third game of the four-game series between Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals has been postponed because of heavy rain at Nationals Park in Washington. Wednesday’s scheduled game was equally important for both clubs as they have each won a
game.
Thursday will be a double header day for the contestants where they will make up for their rained out game.
The Dodgers had scheduled their new starter Dana Eveland to make another appearance. He was supposed to make his second appearance with the power to crush the opposition with his new style of pitching. 27-year-old pitcher worked eight innings in his maiden
start in 2011 regular season and allowed one run to get his first win with a 1.13 ERA.
After winning his first outing since June 23, 2010 the gritty hurler said, "I've done it up here before; it's not the first time that I've won a game up here, so I didn't really have any nerves or anything. I just treated it like another day on the mound.
It doesn't matter where I'm at, I'm gonna go out and do my thing."
However his rank is 150 in the current league but his start suggests that if the Dodgers make it to the post season, which now is almost impossible, as he can make some exceptional break through for his club.
On the other hand, the Nationals’ starter, Chien-Ming Wang is struggling to stabilise his pitching technique. 31-year-old Taiwan native has started seven games, in which he allowed 25 runs on 41 hits and walked 13 batters to receive his three losses. He
also got two wins but made only nine strike-outs in just over 38 innings.
Wang was to face the Los Angeles Dodgers for the first time in his career. A former New York Yankees’ hurler has won 19-games with his ex-club. It was his fifth season and first after two years delay between starts due to his shoulder injury.
Dodgers’ Rod Barajas and Andre Ethier were looking to take their team into another win as they had made a valuable contribution in Tuesday’s 7-3 win. Ethier scored four RBIs and Barajas added two RBIs during that game.
"It took us a little bit long to do it," said Ethier.
It was suggested by the experts that the game will land in the Dodgers favour because of their psychological advantage of the last win and strong batting line-up.
