Los Angeles Dodgers’ center-fielder Matt Kemp rejects his NL (MVP) winning possibility
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ experienced centre-fielder Matt Kemp has rejected any possibility of winning the National League Most Valuable Player Award if the Major League Baseball authorities suspend Milwaukee Brewers left-fielder Ryan Braun for 50 games on using banned drugs last season.
He explained recently in the media during 2012 Spring Training. "I feel like that would be by default," said Kemp, who already is in spring training several days before the Dodgers' position players are required to report. "I wish I would've won it just by them voting me and me being the MVP. That would be special. But hopefully, I will have the same type of year or even better and win it straight up this year, with us making the playoffs."
“It's an unfortunate situation," he said. "I still don't know what is going to happen. I know Braun. We have always been cool, and we have been friends.”
Matt Kemp, for his good and consistent performances last season, was counted second best to Braun and speculations are on the rise as Kemp will hold the new MVP Award.
However, the voting panel, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America has already rejected these speculations and explained in the media as whatever the outcome of Braun’s appeal, the MVP recognition will stay with him.
Earlier, the MLB found Ryan Braun had taken a banned substance to enhance his performance which also comes under banned PED by the League. The League immediately took action against that act of cheating and banned Ryan Braun for 50 games but Ryan and his lawyer filed an appeal in the court which is all set to announce their verdict in a few weeks’ time.
In the meanwhile, Kemp and his team are energetically participating in 2012 Spring Training in order to show good results next season. The team however, is still waiting for a new owner after going into bankruptcy. The experts believe that the Dodgers are going through a tough phase but as soon as they will come-out from this phase, the will be playing better next season.
