Los Angeles Dodgers crush Miami Marlins 5-2 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Dodgers crushed the Miami Marlins 5-2 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Friday, August 10 at Marlins Park in Miami.
Marlins’ entire starting rotation showed little energy and lost in the end. Miami's hitters remained handcuffed by the Dodgers’ pitchers during the entire game.
Los Angeles’ pitchers allowed only two runs in total and looked confident in the field. They kept the pressure on their opponents and eventually won in the end.
Though Miami took early lead in the very first innings, but the Dodgers were more determined on Friday night as they scored four quick runs in the bottom sixth and proved too good for the Marlins.
Marlins tried to bounce back but were unable to catch the Dodgers as their offence just did not click in the game.
“We got a couple chances. When you're going to face a kid of that caliber, you got to bring your best stuff, It's not going to be easy to beat him,” said Miami manager Ozzie Guillen.
Marlins’ pitchers could have played better but against the Dodgers talented batters, they could not do much.
Mark Buehrle pitched six innings and allowed four runs and seven hits along with four earned runs as well. Though he struck-out five Dodgers’ batters but at same time his ERA climbed up to 3.80 which also proved one of the losing factors for the Marlins.
“I kind of stepped back just to give him his moment, I guess, to tip his hat, but he got booed too much, he couldn't even do that, That's the type of hitter he is. He's been struggling all year ... but he's a great hitter he showed it tonight. That first pitch to Rivera was the one I'd like to have back, other than that, I felt great," Buehrle said.
Relief pitcher Ryan Webb somewhat gave little stability to his team as he allowed only one run and three hits along with one earned run on his 4.87 ERA but his performance was still not enough to defeat the Dodgers.
The Dodgers will definitely be happy with their performance as they managed to dominate the Marlins and take a decent victory.
