Los Angeles Dodgers dealing with arbitration issues – MLB News
The Los Angeles Dodgers are still dealing with salary arbitration issues which have caused a bit of a stir among the teams in Major League Baseball.
Many experienced along with some Minor League players are also facing this particular situation where they might be spoiled by their respective franchises.
Currently this same situation is damaging the Dodgers 40-man roster especially Clayton Kershaw, Andre Ethier and James Loney.
Dodgers' top management has yet to decide over these players future contracts. Ethier, who recently signed a one year deal with the Dodgers, initially was the only player in the franchise to face such concerns but later Kershaw and Loney also followed and started talks with the Dodgers' management to avoid arbitration.
This complex situation has put some heavy load on the Dodgers’ to resolve this confusing situation as soon as possible.
The Los Angeles Dodgers' general manager Ned Colletti has also recently commented in the media and stated with clear objective.
Colletti said, “It's part of the process, but we have plenty of time to come to an agreement. That would be our choice, but it is going to take more than us to come to that decision. I'm not surprised by anything, People always have their strategies and thought processes that go into both sides' filing figures. I'm sure they feel they have ample reason to file where they did." It is something I would entertain.”
Experts believe that sometimes free agents avoid arbitration but contract players do tend to face these kinds of situations. For this reason, players’ agents play a key role to get them out from this uncertain situation where sometimes franchises take advantage.
Two particular Dodgers’ players who are currently facing arbitration have to decide from their respective salaries for 2012 like Ethier who is promised to get $10.95 million this season with an additional $25,000 for each of 600 and 625 plate appearances and Loney is promised to get $6.375 million plus $25,000 for 585 plate appearances and $50,000 for each of 625 and 650 plate appearances. These salaries might look good but only after arbitration is resolved.
