Los Angeles Dodgers defeat San Francisco Giants 6-2 – MLB Update
Los Angeles Dodgers continued to find winning ways as they outclassed San Francisco Giants 6-2 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday, May 9 in the decisive finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
"I was sucking wind over there," said Tony Gwynn Jr. after putting a fine batting performance. "He left a couple balls up and he was missing with his spots a little bit."
For the Dodgers, Jamey Wright won for the second time with two perfect innings and two strike outs.
"That's a key right there," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "His two innings were huge."
"It was nice getting through those first three, but dealing with that fourth wasn't easy," Giants’ starting pitcher Tim Lincecum said. "I didn't put us in an easy spot. I just tried to pitch a little more aggressively and took my bullpen a little more seriously before the game as if it's another inning."
Los Angeles’ win in the finale will be of great importance. Without a shadow of a doubt, the Dodgers are one of the most successful teams since the start of the MLB season. With 20 wins in just 31 games, the Dodgers have emerged victorious more often than note.
Showing great composure and executing their game plan to perfection, Los Angeles hammered the Giants 9-1 in the opening game and it seemed they will cruise to another easy series victory in the second game but San Francisco fought back superbly with a 2-1 win, forcing the series to the decider.
Taking advantage of their home conditions brilliantly, the Dodgers outplayed their opponents in finer details of the game on Wednesday to cheer up their fans. It will be interesting to see if they can continue their fairy run throughout this year to make it to the World Series finals.
The Giants, on the other hand, will be disappointed with the result of the series. Had they been luckier in the finale, the result of the series would have been different. The Giants are now 15-16 and surely, they have enough quality and firepower in their offence and defence to bounce back.
