Los Angeles Dodgers defeated by Atlanta Braves 2-5 – MLB news
Los Angeles Dodgers defeated by the Atlanta Braves 2-5 in the third game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, May 19 at Turner Field in Atlanta Georgia.
Sweeping the series 3-0, the Braves proved that they are also going to give tough competition ahead of 2013 post season.
“I needed to keep the focus, That's a big at-bat right there, so I just tried to make contact and put the ball in play. With a rain delay and getting tired a little bit later, you have to keep concentrating on the game, Everybody did a great job from the
beginning (of the eighth), and I think everybody put something in that inning,” Ramiro Pena said.
In Sunday’s game, the Braves pitchers and batters played wonderfully and won the third straight game against the Dodgers.
Starting pitcher Mike Minor pitched six solid innings and allowed only two run on three hits. He also allowed two earned runs on 2.78 ERA. However, he struck out nine Dodgers’ upfront hitters and helped his team to win with quite ease.
“We were on the road a lot and lost a lot of games we felt we should have won, Today we came back in another one from behind and got the sweep,” Braves starting pitcher Mike Minor said.
Later relief pitcher Anthony Varvaro and Luis Avilan also did well on the mound and did not receive any run. Both pitched one inning a piece and remained calm on the mound.
Closing pitcher Craig Kimbrel pitched last inning of the game. He struck out three Dodgers’ hitters and showed brilliant control with his 2.60 ERA.
Along with pitchers, the Braves hitters also performed wonderfully. Jordan Schafer ran for two RBIs on two at bats. First baseman Freddie Freeman scored one run on one hit while he remained calm on his .404 slugging percentage.
On the other hand, the Dodgers pitchers and batters did not play well and lost bitterly. Starting pitcher Matt Magill pitched first innings for the Dodgers and allowed one run on four hits. He struck out eight but overall his ERA of 5.00 rose to high to
save the game for the Dodgers.
