Los Angeles Dodgers defeated by San Francisco Giants 1-2 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated by San Francisco Giants 1-2 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Friday, May 3 at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
"He's the guy you want up there. He ran a deep count there, It doesn't come at a better time than when he hit it. That's another great comeback for us," manager Bruce Bochy said after the game about his catcher.
The Giants played as one unit and gave no chance to the Dodgers to dominate during the entire game. The Giants’ pitchers and hitters showed their offensive game and won in the end.
"Just enjoying the moment, taking in all the excitement, It's a good one. It's a good feeling. It was already a long game for a 1-1 game into the ninth. It's a good win," Buster Posey said of rounding third.
Especially the Giants pitchers allowed not extra hits and remained calm on the mound. They pitched in right areas and allowed only one run during the entire game.
Their hitters also played well and scored on consistent runs. They all kept the Dodgers’ pitcher under pressure and pushed them hard.
On the other hand, the Dodgers entire roster played poorly and did not show their natural game. The Dodgers upfront batting lineup lost their composure against the Giants pitchers.
"It sounds like he got it pretty good, It's usually a pretty good amount of time. It's not like he's going to be back in a couple days," manager Don Mattingly said.
The Dodgers’ could not handle the Giants attacking pitchers and eventually lost the game with bitter humiliation.
The Giants called Barry Zito to start the game as he tossed some beautiful innings. He pitched five solid innings and allowed only one run on six hits. He also allowed one earned and struck out one on 3.06 ERA.
Meanwhile, Dodgers’ starter Clayton Kershaw disappointed his team with his poor pitching. He tossed first seven innings and allowed one run on 1.66 ERA. He also allowed one run and struck out five but overall his pitching could not do much for his team.
