Los Angeles Dodgers defeated by St. Louis Cardinals 2-3 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the St. Louis Cardinals 2-3 in the third game of their four-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, July 25 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
Dodgers were already coming with low energy as they had suffered a big defeat in their previous game. While again in this game, they could not match last year’s Major League World Series winners brilliance and lost in the end.
Their experienced players did not perform well and could not save the game.
Dodgers’ pitchers as well as batters did not show any fighting spirit and looked tired when they arrived at Busch Stadium.
On the other hand, the Cardinals were sharp in the field and played superbly during the entire game. They never let the Dodgers dominate at any point of game and kept them under pressure.
On one end, Cardinals’ pitchers handcuffed the Dodgers batters while on the other end St. Louis’ hitters played as one unit and smashed some heavy hits to their opponents’ pitching line-up.
"It was something right there middle in, I tried to get good contact." Cardinals’ Rafael Furcal said.
Later in the game Kelly said, "I saw the hit and I knew the outfielder was kind of deep, I didn't take a good round and lost my footing. When I saw (Furcal's) base hit, I just wanted to make sure to touch third."
Overall the game was played at a high pace but the Cardinals proved more resolute and won in the end.
St. Louis manager was happy on his team’s tremendous effort as well as on his closing pitcher Fernando Sales extraordinary two innings spell.
"Salas did a terrific job," St. Louis manager Mike Matheny said. "You can't ask for anything more than that."
Hanley Ramirez was the only player from the Dodgers franchise who did well on his four at-bats with one run and two hits.
"I feel comfortable," Ramirez said. "Great group of guys here; you just go out there and have fun. I'm happy to be here."
Ramirez has recently come into the Dodgers’ franchise from the Miami Marlin.
