Los Angeles Dodgers dominated 0-12 by Houston Astros – MLB Update
Los Angeles Dodgers were dominated by Houston Astros 0-12 at the Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas on Sunday, April 22 in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
For Houston, Wandy Rodriguez had an absolutely thrilling time on the mound as he earned his first win of the season. Rodriguez has been giving some great performances since the start of the season. However, he lost his first three starts due to lack of support from the closers and relievers.
The starter will be eager to continue his great run throughout this year now to make a name for himself. Striking out six with 1.42 ERA, he allowed just three hits in seven strong innings.
Jordan Schafer also had his first home run of the season and the Dodgers faced their worst major’s loss since their 13-0 hammering at the hands of Angels in June 2004.
"I feel good because last time I threw a good game but I didn't win," Rodriguez said. "Today I threw a good game and I won, so I feel very good."
"I felt very comfortable when I saw the score at 6-0," he said. "I tried to make all my pitches, tried to throw on the corner and throw everything."
"Wandy threw a great game today," Carlos Lee said of Rodriguez. "We probably only needed one (run). He continues to pitch great and keep us in the games."
The Astros were the superior of the two teams in almost all departments of the game. Their batters made the most of available opportunities to put up a mammoth score on the board.
Houston’s pitching attack pitched with great control and accuracy, not allowing the Dodgers to score a single run during the contest. Although the Astros had lost the opening two games of the series, they made themselves proud by crushing the Dodgers 12-0 on Sunday evening.
Los Angeles secured a comfortable 3-1 win in the opening game and they continued to rule their opponents in the following game as well to secure another easy 5-1 win. Despite losing the final game to the Astros, the Dodgers have a mighty 12-4 record this season.
