Los Angeles Dodgers ease past Miami Marlins 5-0 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Dodgers ease past the Miami Marlins 5-0 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, August 12 at Marlins Park in Miami.
Chris Capuano played wonderfully for the Dodgers and earned a great victory. He pitched eight innings and did not allow any run on his consistent 3.11 ERA.
"I started thinking about it a little bit probably after the fifth, sixth, I had a nice heckler today when I was in the on-deck circle that kept reminding me. I actually turned to him and said, 'Yeah, I know,” Capuano said with confidence and told the reporters about his balanced outing.
Later, Dodgers' manager Don Mattingly discussed his starter whose pitching provided a great victory to his team and said, "He's tough and he's tough for a younger club. They've got some older guys, but they've got some younger guys that he can really pull the string and rock you back and forth, hard, soft, hard, soft. That's tough for young hitters."
Relief pitcher Jamey Wright also supported Capuano well and played a key role in his team’s win. He pitched one inning and maintained his consistent 3.74 ERA with huge energy.
Along with pitchers, the Dodgers' hitters also played well and earned a decent victory for their team. Especially second baseman Mark Ellis did well with the bat as he scored one run and smashed three hits on his consistent slugging percentage of .352.
On the other hand, the Marlins pitchers certainly disappointed with their poor performances. They pitched way-ward which eventually proved disastrous in the end.
Wade LeBlanc started the play for the Marlins and hammered with six hits and one run. He also gave one earned run and struck-out only four Dodgers’ batters on his 1.45 ERA.
Relief pitcher Heath Bell pitched only 0.1 innings but he allowed four runs and four hits on his 6.07 ERA.
When closer Chris Hatcher came out to pitch, the game was already spoiled by his team-mate starter and relief pitcher. He pitched 0.2 innings and allowed only one hit and maintained his 4.70 ERA.
