Los Angeles Dodgers edge Milwaukee Brewers 7-6 – MLB Spring Training
Los Angeles Dodgers edged Milwaukee Brewers 7-6 at the Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona on March 20 in their Cactus League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
Andre Ethier looked in fine form on Tuesday as he hit a two run home runs and drove in three runs in Los Angeles Dodgers’ 7-6 win over the Brewers. Ethier suffered from a knee injury last season and it seems he is putting his leg problems behind him this
year.
The striker has made the most of available opportunities so far. His .440 average with two home runs and three RBI’s suggest that he has raised his game to a higher level. He managed a moderate .220 average against left-handers last season.
Dodgers’ starter Chad Billingsley looked a bit out of sorts, allowing three runs and five hits in just over four innings. Chris Narveson also proved to be expensive, giving up seven hits and three runs over four innings pitched.
"I'm not trying to hit the ball a certain way other than hard and squared up," Billingsley said.
"I feel like he's one of the best hitters in the league when he's going right," manager Don Mattingly said.
"I had to settle down and make some pitches," Narveson said. "When you see a couple balls get up, it's easy to make a mental note: `Hey, keep the ball down."`
The Dodgers showed great determination, fighting spirits and mental toughness in an extremely competitive game. Handling the pressure absolutely brilliantly, the Dodgers managed to get the better of their rivals to improve to their win-loss record to 9-5.
The Dodgers will now be hoping to continue their impressive form throughout 2012 regular season to make it to the World Series Finals.
The Brewers, on the other hand, were quite ordinary in some areas of the game. They had their chances to take the lead but they made too many unforced errors to pay the heavy price. In absence of Prince Fielder, the Brewers are looking weakened to say the
least. It will be interesting to see if they can bounce back before that start of regular season.
