Los Angeles Dodgers edge past Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 – MLB News
Los Angeles Dodgers edge past the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, May 20, at Miller Park in Milwaukee. The Dodgers hitters showed great temperament
against the Brewers pitchers and won the game with a decent margin.
The Dodgers manager, Don Mattingly, decided to start with Clayton Kershaw, as he responded well with his brilliant fast pitching.
Kershaw pitched nine innings and allowed one run on three hits and proved one of the winning factors for the Dodgers. He did really well on the mound and struck out five on 1.35 ERA.
“We obviously hear the stuff that's going around, I don't think we need any extra added motivation to play better, but we want to do well for Donnie. We've always wanted to play well, He's a great manager and
a great person, and we know it's up to us. He can't go out there and play," Kershaw said.
His pitching remained so subtle during the all nine innings that the Dodgers manager did not call any reliever from the bullpen.
Along with Clayton Kershaw, the Dodgers batters also played wonderfully on the plate and contributed in their team’s terrific victory.
"Today was a great superstar win, We had Clayton do his thing, and Matt and Andre hit home runs. That's kind of how this has all been designed and hopefully this is what continues from here on out," catcher A.J.
Ellis said.
Centre fielder, Matt Kemp, scored two runs on a single hit. He ran for an RBI and maintained his slugging percentage of .358.
Right fielder, Andre Ethier, scored one run on two hits along with two RBIs. He hammered hard the Brewers upfront pitching line-up and maintained his slugging percentage at .407.
On the other hand, the Brewers pitching and batting line-up played really poor during the entire game and lost bitterly in the end. Especially, their pitchers allowed too many runs. Yovani Gallardo started the
game for the Brewers and allowed three runs on eight hits. He struck out seven but still he could not help his team to avoid a humiliating defeat.
