Los Angeles Dodgers extravagant spending: A cause of concern for Washington Nationals-MLB Update
The way Los Angeles Dodgers have spent money since the beginning of the offseason, competitors aiming at winning the National League Championship Series next year have reasons to be concerned.
The Washington Nationals are one of those teams that fancy winning the glory in the upcoming season, which means they cannot stay independent from the activities of their National League rival, the Dodgers.
Although the Nationals have their roster filled with all the players they need to stand out and win matches regularly, the Dodgers seem to have superseded them in many ways.
By the dint of their strong financial condition, the Dodgers have acquired a number of expensive star players.
In almost every area of the game, they have the best players. From offence to defence and the rotation to the bullpen, they are not far from perfection in terms of the capabilities of their members.
By looking at their current roster, experts can wonder how they will be defeated by the oppositions.
The Nationals may have a reasonable amount of money but compared to the Dodgers they are extremely weak in this department.
For the same reason, the Nationals have failed to agree to a deal with Adam LaRoche as yet. Certainly, if the Dodgers were in their place, LaRoche would have been signed a long ago.
The financial disparity between Washington and the Dodgers can easily result in a far better performance by the latter during the upcoming season.
In consequence, the Nationals, even while having a competitive team, may fail to achieve something substantial.
The current situation has made it very important that the dispute between the Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles over the television rights fees from the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) is resolved.
It will more probably strengthen the financial position of the Nationals.
By earning a huge amount of money, something around $100 million from the rights fees, Washington can bring necessary changes on their roster in order to stay competitive.
They will be hoping that rights fees issue is solved by the Major League Baseball at the earliest so that they could enjoy a better financial standing.
Any development in this regard is going to be hugely significant for Washington.
