Los Angeles Dodgers hammered Washington Nationals 2-0 – Major League Recap
The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Washington Nationals 2-0 on Sunday, April 29 at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California, clean sweeping them with style in their Major League Baseball three-match series.
The current Nationals’ team is having a bad time in the field with worst team ERA with no exceptional series’ wins from start of the season as well.
Dodgers’ came out with enormous energy and outpitched the Nationals, who were about to face the third consecutive defeat in their first three-match encounter with the South Los Angeles baseball franchise.
First baseman James Loney was jubilant on his team’s win as he stated after the game appreciating his team-mates especially pitchers who played a key role ousting the Nationals, "We've got a great mix of guys, and we're going to need that through the long
season to win games, A big hit, a big defensive play, and big baserunning play -- all that stuff is going to matter. And it's going to take all of us to do that."
Dodgers’ top starting pitcher Chris Capuano played brilliantly and struck-out nine batters and never allowed any Nationals’ player to hit him freely.
On the other hand, James Loney drove in two quick runs, on which centre-fielder Matt Kemp and right-fielder Andre Ethier completed two winning runs to give a thumping defeat to Washington.
Before the game, speculation were rising as the Dodgers will experiment with a different line-up and probably going to play with some fresh faces.
However, Dodgers’ manager Don Mattingly rejected all those speculations and explained even before the game.
Mattingly said with confidence, "I understand the clamoring and what people say I should do, but at this point I don't feel like it's the right thing, what's the alternative if you make a change and it doesn't work out? Do we just go down the list and keep
trying guys?”
In the meanwhile, since the Dodgers have defeated the Nationals in all three games of their recent series, their spirits are high and they are looking forward towards the series against the Colorado Rockies. It will be interesting to see how the Dodgers
manage to carry their winning momentum forward.
