Los Angeles Dodgers humiliate Minnesota Twins 15-0 in first ever game at Target Field – MLB Update
The Los Angeles Dodgers ripped apart their interleague rivals Minnesota Twins 15-0 in the first ever match of the three-game series at Target Field on Monday, June 27.
Dodgers completely crushed the Twins in the both forms of the game as they piled 15 runs with bat while wiped-out Minnesota’s batting line-up. The Dodgers used 11 batters and only two of these were unable to score any runs. One of which was pinch hitter
Dioner Navarro while the other was third baseman Aaron Miles.
Left-fielder Tony Gwynn, Matt Kemp, A.J. Ellis and Andre Ethier each made two runs while Trent Oeltjen scored three runs including a blistering homer. Casey Blake, James Loney, Juan Uribe and Dee Gordon each made an RBI single. Fifteen runs also include
three homers; one each was homered by Oeltjen, Blake and Kemp.
Dodgers blistered these runs in each of the inning except two, the second and the ninth. They made two or more than two runs in each of the innings except the third in which they made just one run.
Their pitcher too had an outstanding game with the ball as they completely white-washed their opponents’ batting line-up with their swinging fastballs. Starter Chad Billingsley laid the foundation for the pitchers with his scoreless six innings in which
he allowed just four hits and two walks while he struck-out four batters. With this devastating performance, he snatched his seventh win to improve his record to 7-6 with a 4.22 ERA.
Relief pitcher Blake Hawksworth, Hong-Chih Kuo and closer Scott Elbert each remained scoreless in their one inning each of pitching. Blake took out three batters while Kuo and Elbert each struck two batters.
The Twins’ starter Nick Blackburn, in contrast had a nightmare game as he scattered eight runs on 12 hits including a homer, walked one and made just one strike-out over a four inning spell. His season has now moved to 6-6 with 3.64 ERA after 16 starts.
His relievers were expensive as Anthony Swarzak allowed two runs on five hits over one inning, Phil Dumatrait gave away two runs on two homers in one inning pitching while Jose Mijares went for three runs on three hits in one inning. Closer Matt Capps was
the only pitcher, who escaped the Dodgers’ shattering hitting and remained scoreless in the last inning.
