Los Angeles Dodgers lose to Los Angeles Angels 2-3 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to Los Angeles Angels 2-3 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, June 11 at Dodger Stadium in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Dodgers from start to end never played comfortable and lost narrowly in the end.
Though Chris Capuano played a balanced game for the Dodgers as he tossed five innings and received only two runs along with two earned runs and maintained 2.87 ERA. However, despite his brilliant play, his team could not cope with the pressure and lost bitterly
in the end.
“They kind of don't really give you a break early, You really have to make your pitches from the get-go. The first three innings, I just felt as bad as I ever have, The last two games and the first three innings tonight, I've been having a lot of problems
with command walking guys." Capuano said later in the game about his that particular outing.
Later, Dodgers’ manager Don Mattingly also stated in the media about his team’s poor performance.
“It's not a great choice either way. Trumbo has been that good, and Albert is swinging the bat good. Really, in that situation, we kind of picked our poison. Early on, we got some guys out, We got those two runs early and then after that.” said Mattingly
who looked not happy at all on his team’s lame performance in which they seemed not confident.
On the other hand, the Angels played really well and certainly outplayed the Dodgers with full force. They played as one unit and never allowed their opponents to take control of the game at any stage.
Angels’ starter Garrett Richards helped his team with five tremendous innings’ spell. He pitched five allowing only two runs, five hits and one earned run. He also struck out four and maintained his 1.38 ERA.
Giving his team a early win in the three-match series, the Angels are now in quite comfortable position to take the top spot in the American League West Division with 33-29 win loss record along with .532 winning percentage.
