Los Angeles Dodgers make settlements with a media giant on rights’ issues – MLB News
The Los Angeles Dodgers finally made a settlement deal with the renowned sports media group in United Kingdom over rights’ issues and somehow smoothed way for the potential sale of the franchise.
Earlier, the Dodgers found themselves in a tricky position when their media partners took a legal action against them for being dishonest. The Dodgers were allegedly accused and dragged to the court.
While now reports are coming as the legal battle has ended between the Dodgers and their long time media partners after both sides have agreed on a mutual understanding. This is also to remember, that this settlement has been made outside the court.
Later, the Dodgers attorney Sid Levinson told Judge Kevin Gross, “The agreement with Fox clears the path for the Dodgers to sell the team on schedule and to maximize the value of the debtors' estate. We've learned that the bidders for the team fully appreciate
how lucrative the team's future media rights are in the current market.”
Shortly, the media group also said in a statement, “We look forward to working with new ownership on future television rights discussions.”
Though this was a short legal proceeding, but still it damaged the potential possibilities of Dodgers’ sale due to bankruptcy issues.
However, now this matter has solved and the Dodgers current owners can take bids from potential buyers. Some famous names are already showing interest to buy this Southern Californian baseball franchise including the Disney family, owner of Dallas Mavericks
Mark Cuban and basketball legend from the Los Angeles Lakers Magic Johnson.
Despite all these famous names pursuing for potential ownership of Dodgers, one source has a different prospective, “A lot of people can get the bid book. And people will submit a non-binding bid because it's non-binding. But when it's time to talk money,
we’ll see who is serious after that.”
Although, nothing has decided yet by the current owners on what price they are going to sell the franchise but the next few days are certainly critical when all these potential bidders will be finalising their ultimate price for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
