Los Angeles Dodgers might exceed New York Yankees in payroll – MLB Update

Last year when basket ball legend Magic Johnson was linked with new Los Angeles Dodgers’ ownership, many started believing beginning of a new era in the South Los Angeles baseball franchise.
As the 2011 Major League Baseball was progressed, the Dodgers started to show their slight development on several aspects. Though they did not finish well by failing to qualify into the post season, but still when it comes to pitching prowess, it was witnessed
by many that they performed certainly well and in the coming days, their offence will be stronger.
Now when all the teams are preparing hard for 2013 Major League Baseball season, the Dodgers new owners including Magic Johnson are showing their financial power by signing hefty long term deals with some of the very best available players.
They have recently signed free agent Zack Greinke for $147 million. Not only Greinke, but the Dodgers have also signed couple of outfielders and relievers this offseason that now puts them on a track to compete with New York Yankees in overall franchise’
payroll.
The Dodgers have now become the second highest league team whose payroll could exceed $200 million. Sources say that if the Dodgers’ payroll do exceed, they have a good chance to end New York Yankees 14-year streak of league’s biggest spenders.
“Creating a lot of buzz, that's for sure," Greinke said. "And you do wonder when things are going to stop."
"I don't that there's anybody that can keep up with what the Dodgers are doing," Arizona Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers said.
“When we took over the team we said we were going to spend money and I guess you guys are seeing that we're trying to do that," Magic Johnson said. "We're not messing around. We're not talking about it, we're doing it."
On the other hand, some experts have also reacted to this news and saying whole-lot different things despite Dodgers’ ability to compete with New York Yankees’ in payroll.
These experts believe that to exceed from one’s payroll might not help the Dodgers’ fully if they want to play for the ultimate prize in the baseball, the World Series.
