Los Angeles Dodgers optimistic to sign Chicago Cubs’ starting pitcher Ryan Dempster – MLB News
News is coming in that the Los Angeles Dodgers are quite serious to land Chicago Cubs’ starting pitcher Ryan Dempster into their roster for the second half of the season. The Dodgers will be looking at acquiring Dempster to make sure that their post season qualification will further give a chance to win the World Series title.
Dodgers’ new ownership has also promised their fans as they will bring some more talented players in order to make their chances more viable for winning the World Series.
Dempster recently commented on the rumours of his possible trade in the media and said, "When you're young and get traded you see it as a negative sometimes, but if you look at it from the other side that means other teams are interested in you, It's humbling, and you appreciate it. But at the same time it does not change anything that you do, that you go about your business and get ready to pitch."
There is another possibility that the Dodgers might also sign Matt Garza. Both Garza and Dempster are currently playing wonderfully for the Cubs but at the same time Chicago is looking for potential cash in order increase their current money for many different franchise development programmes.
Garza finished the first half of the season with 4.32 ERA along 4-7 win-loss record, 86 strike-outs and 1.20 WHIP.
On the other hand, Dempster finished his half season break achieving 1.99 ERA along with 4-3 win-loss record, 70 strike-outs and 1.01 WHIP.
Both players’ stats make them a strong candidate in the Dodgers’ pursuit for a new pitcher.
Dodgers are at the moment on top in the National League West with 47-40 win-loss record and .540 winning percentage. Their chances of getting into the post season is looking positive. However, in the second half of the season, the Dodgers will receive some tough competition from the second place San Francisco Giants and third place Arizona Diamondbacks.
Ryan Dempster’s potential arrival in the Dodgers franchise will make things more consistent for the Los Angeles side.
