Los Angeles Dodgers’ outfielder Andre Ethier looks upbeat for his potential return – MLB Update
Last season’s Gold Glove Award winner Andre Ethier looks in good spirits and is showing some great optimism ahead of next season despite carrying issues with his knee from last year.
Though his knee is doing fine, but still, he is feeling slight soreness in it and telling the media personals about his potential return next season with full flair. He not only explained about his return, but he also described in detail that how he will give his team some relief with consistent ball play.
"It's just you going up there taking hacks and knowing you can take them and not feel twinges here and there, knowing your mechanics are sound, knowing that you've practiced and done the work," Ethier said. "Not sitting there double-guessing yourself because some of the work you've done might not be the best quality because you're compensating for some things."
He added, “Last year, you felt like you stepped in the batter's box with one strike because you don't feel well and you don't feel you're capable of performing the way you're known to be capable of.”
A six year veteran and highly experienced individual, Ethier played last season in great pain. Finishing the season with hitting average of .292 along with 11 home-runs and 62 RBI, Ethier played only 135 games.
Dodgers’ medical staff did a traffic job when they operated a minor procedure on Ethier’s right knee giving him great relief from the constant pain.
Currently doing slight batting practice in the ongoing Spring Training, Ethier knows how important 2012 season is for his game and for his future seasons with the Dodgers.
On the other hand, the Dodgers are also hoping for some good plays from the 29-year-old. Team manager Don Mattingly is hopeful for his potential return. He was also present when Ethier talked to the media and told them about his potential return. Mattingly on the other hand also hoped for a good beginning for Ethier and mentioned in the media that he will return with great flair and optimism giving the Dodgers more consistency next season.
