Los Angeles Dodgers overpower San Francisco Giants 5-1 – MLB Recap
Los Angeles Dodgers overpowered the San Francisco Giants 5-1 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, October 3 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Clayton Kershaw pitched eight solid innings and received one run and three hits. He pitched brilliantly and struck-out eight potential Giants’ batters on 2.53 ERA.
"If we make the playoffs next season, it will be a great year, Not making the postseason, that's kind of what we play for, I don't care, It was fun to get a win hopefully build off these last nine games." Kershaw said with confidence and told the reporters about his performance and on his team’s performance.
Later Dodgers’ manager Don Mattingly said of Kershaw who played beautifully during his specific spell, "He's as good as anybody in the game, He loves pitching."
Closer Kenley Jansen also played well as he did not receive any run or hit. He struck-out two while his ERA remained consistent at 2.35.
Along with pitchers, the Dodgers' hitters also played well and earned a great victory in the end. They kept the Giants’ entire roster under pressure during the game and eventually edged past them in style.
"They're going to see what's going on inside of there and hopefully just clean it up, If they need to do more, they'll do more, but I won't know anything until I wake up," Matt Kemp said.
Right fielder Andre Ethier scored one run and smashed one hit on his two at-bats. He played well and maintained his slugging percentage at .460.
Alex Castellanos batted one time and scored a single run. He smashed one hit along with one RBI on his .391 slugging percentage.
"I don't think it's something that you ever think about doing,” Giants' catcher Buster Posey.
Left fielder Elian Herrera also did well on the plate as he batted two times and scored one run and smashed one hit on his consistent .332 slugging percentage.
The Giants’ batters and pitchers however, did not show any real fighting spirit. They all played under pressure and received a hammering from the Dodgers.
