Los Angeles Dodgers overthrow Baltimore Orioles 7-4 – MLB Recap
The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Baltimore Orioles 7-4 in the third game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, April 21 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
The Dodgers entire roster played wonderfully during the entire game. They started a good run early in the game and finished with style.
Dodgers’ hitters and pitchers played certainly well and never allowed the Orioles to dominate them. Starter Stephen Fife started the game for the Orioles and showed great resilience during his entire spell.
He pitched 4.2 innings and allowed four runs and seven hits. He struck out five and maintained his 7.71 ERA.
“I really feel like the Dodgers didn't beat us today. I beat us, I put us in a tough situation, not giving up many hits at all, just making their job a lot easier by putting them on base for free. It's unacceptable," losing pitcher Jake Arrieta said who
received five runs on 6.63 ERA.
Relief pitcher J.P. Howell also played well and pitched with enormous power. He pitched 0.1 innings and allowed only one hit on 4.91 ERA.
Not only just pitchers, the Dodgers hitters also played well and showed their natural offensive game. They hit hard all the Orioles pitchers and kept them in pressure during the entire game.
Dodgers’ manager Don Mattingly said, "It was obviously something that we needed. We talk about trying to get that rock rolling the other direction. It's got to start somewhere. That's a good start for us today."
He added, “You may look back in a week and say this is a big game if we start to put some (wins) together.”
Second baseman Mark Ellis scored one run on one hit. He also ran for three RBIs and maintained his slugging percentage at .344.
First baseman Adrian Gonzalez scored one run on his four at bats while he ran for an RBI. Maintaining his slugging percentage .554, he hit hard Orioles’ all relievers.
Centre fielder Matt Kemp also contributed in his team’s win with his one run and three hits along with a RBI on .294 slugging percentage.
