Los Angeles Dodgers place veteran pitcher Ted Lilly on DL – MLB Update
The Los Angeles Dodgers have put their experienced pitcher Ted Lilly on disabled list due to shoulder inflammation. Initially he has been placed to DL for 15 days, but if his swelling prolonged, the management could give him more time to recover before coming
again on to the field.
"I felt it (during that game), but it wasn't too bad, When I felt it the most was when I actually came out of the game and the adrenaline wore off. That was when I knew something was wrong with it. We had an off-day the next day, and it was bothering me
then, so I'm going to take a little bit of time out, and hopefully, it will get better. I am going to miss some time.” Lilly said.
Later the Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said, "I don't know if I should really be talking about tomorrow's starter because he's not in the building,"
Though Lilly’s potential return has not been mentioned in the media officially but some inside sources are speculating in the media that former Chicago Cubs’ ace Lilly will be returning in the next month. The second week of June is also important when the
Dodgers will face Seattle Mariners.
Before injury, the 13 year veteran was playing a balanced game for the Dodgers. He was carrying 3.14 ERA along with 5-1 win loss record, 31 strikeouts and 1.13 WHIP.
Lilly is a highly talented Major League player with a playing experience of being part of some six baseball franchises in the past. He started his career in 1999 with Montreal Expos and later in his career played in the New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics,
Toronto Blue Jays, and Chicago Cubs’ roster.
Now after spending so many years in the MLB, his career stats have reached quite high. Experts compare his career 4.13 ERA along with 130-111 win-loss record, 1663 strikeouts and 1.25 WHIP with top pitchers in the league.
In the meanwhile, coming on to his early recovery from his shoulder soreness, many in the Dodgers franchise are quite worried over Lilly’s injury and if he could not make it on time, the results will hurt the Dodgers in the long run.
