Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Javy Guerra showing optimism – MLB Update
The Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Javy Guerra is feeling much better as he enters in his first full Major League Baseball season after being drafted in 2004. Though he was part of the Dodgers in 2011, but remained on bench most of the season.
He is coming with a slight debate on his current form as initially the Dodgers management was not convinced to make him play in this particular season after he performed poorly in this year’s MLB Spring Training.
However, with ongoing MLB season, Guerra is playing with a big heart and showing some optimism. So far he has played five games and went with five strikeouts, five saves and 0.67 WHIP while his career ERA is consistent at 2.09.
Team manager Don Mattingly said of his relief pitcher recently, "Javy's been solid, he's been sharp, he's attacked the strike zone. We like this guy's stuff. He's tough to pick up, he's got a lot of weapons, It's like Javy and Kenley talked about this spring, they feel that when the game gets to them in the eighth or ninth inning, the game is over."
Later he also explained for Guerra and his talents, “I know a lot of people were clamoring to switch [Guerra] and Kenley early in the spring, but his saves have not been like top-steppers, Javy’s pretty much been like these last three. Maybe a guy gets on, but they’ve been pretty clean.”
In the meanwhile, this is a healthy sign for the Dodgers as their closer Javy Guerra is getting ready and feeling comfortable at the moment.
Guerra, who has stepped into the MLB’s regular season after spending some quality time in the Minor League in Dodgers’ farm system, is considered a good player and will be providing a great help to Los Angels’ senior team in the coming days as well.
On the other hand, his playing style and game approach also matches the way Dodgers play and regarding this chemistry, the MLB’s most experts believe that this combination will help the Dodgers in the long run with lots of bug wins.
