Los Angeles Dodgers secure a narrow 6-5 win over San Diego Padres – MLB Spring Training
Los Angeles Dodgers secured a narrow 6-5 win over San Diego Padres at the Peoria Sports Complex on Tuesday, March 27 in Peoria, Arizona in their Cactus League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
Matt Kemp showed just why he is special for the Dodgers. Finishing second to Ryan Braun for 2011 National League Most Valuable Players Award, Kemp had a double and two RBI’s in his teams’ sensational 6-5 win over the Padres. The striker is one of the most expensive players in NL and he will be looking to improve his hitting average by scoring runs consistently.
"I feel great," Kemp said. "We're getting to that point where you have to start concentrating on your at-bats and getting locked in. The season's right around the corner and you have to work on what you're going to try to do during the season, especially against the teams that you're going to face during the season."
"At the beginning, I felt a little out of rhythm," Kemp said. "But as spring goes on, you tend to get your timing and this is about the time you want to start getting that good feel."
Dodgers’ starter Jamey Wright, who is on the 40 man roster, also proved to be handy as he allowed one run in one inning.
The Dodgers have done a remarkable job in their last few spring training games. Improving their spring win-loss record to 12-9, the Dodgers displayed some top quality baseball skills in a thrilling contest on Tuesday.
Fans will be very excited with what they have seen from their team in the last few games and they will be hoping that the Dodgers can continue their impressive run in the upcoming regular season to make it to the World Series finals.
The Padres, on the other hand, will be disheartened by the fact they were unable to cross the winning line. The Padres had their chances to take the score lead but they lost control over their nerves, which proved to be the difference between the two teams. It will be interesting to see if they can bounce back from a depressing defeat.
