Los Angeles Dodgers secure thrilling 4-3 win over Chicago White Sox – MLB Spring Training
Los Angeles Dodgers secured thrilling 4-3 win over Chicago White Sox at the Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona in their Cactus League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session. The Dodgers will be looking to continue their impressive
form throughout the season to make it to the playoffs.
The Dodgers gave their arch rivals a taste of what they can expect to face in the upcoming regular season. Dee Gordon put up a great show as he helped the Dodgers prevail in a close game. The Dodgers leadoff man batted in the winning run in the bottom of
the ninth inning.
Trailing 3-2 in the sixth inning, it seemed the Dodgers were out of the contest. However, Gordon played a key role to keep his team in the hunt, opening the sixth inning with a bunt single. He then stole second and ran to third on a throwing error to inspire
his team mates.
"He's done it two or three times this spring," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "He gets on, they throw it away, he scores on anything."
"You never know," Mattingly said. "A hit that finds a hole, wins a game. From that point, he can relax a little bit and all of a sudden we see who we're looking for."
Jan Danks looked very pleased with his performance at the end of the game. The White Sox’s starter gave up two earned runs and five hits over seven innings pitched. Manager Robin Ventura is convinced that Danks is a match winning player and he said Danks
will be starting for Chicago on the Opening Day.
"I think that's cool," Danks said. "It's an honor. It's something everyone dreams about, throwing on opening day," he said. "I've had the opportunity to watch five of them. You can't help but think, `Man, what if that were me out there?"
Dodgers’ starter Chad Billingsley had a forgettable time on the mound as he gave up three runs and 11 hits in just over five innings. Nine of the 11 hits came in the first three innings as the White Sox took the early lead.
