Los Angeles Dodgers seem dismal seeing Yu Darvish slip away – MLB News
After Los Angeles Angels, now the Los Angeles Dodgers are also showing their concerns losing Yu Darvish. The Japanese superstar has just signed with the Texas Rangers for a whopping $60 million for next several Major League seasons left many franchises including the Dodgers in dismay.
Before Darvish officially made a deal with the Rangers management, the Dodgers were the one particular franchise, who claimed that they are going to offer Darvish with a potential long term contract that will certainly ensure his arrival in their franchise.
Not only was that particular offer put down by Darvish but also his agent denied accepting it. While later, they were suddenly surprised when they heard about Darvish’s deal with the Texas Rangers.
Dodgers’ top management had been looking deeply at Darvish's game since his early playing days in Japan but his late decision of going to the Rangers roster left many unheard rumours.
The Dodgers’ director of Asian operations Acey Kohrogi has recently said Darvish and his great throwing abilities. He was also the most disappointed person in the Dodgers franchise who initially thought that Darvish will be a great fit the Los Angeles Dodgers’ uniform.
Kohrogi said, “There's this misconception that we start learning about players when they're ready to come to the U.S. Actually, we've already known about them for a long time.”
Later, the Dodgers special advisor Tom Lasorda said for Darvish, “He had a little bit of a thought about coming over, but he wanted to stay. Those teams over there, if they want that kid, they will not let him leave the country. I fell in love with him. Wow, he had a great arm and pitches with great temperament. I would have signed him on the spot.”
No doubt, Darvish is a great pitcher, but losing him on money related issues do not suggest as one is open to sign him on any cost. The Dodgers management now also admit that Darvish and his agent asked too much money which was not appropriate for their club to accept it seeing the team’s current poor financial condition.
