Los Angeles Dodgers show interest in New York Mets’ Daniel Murphy – MLB News
The Los Angeles Dodgers are showing some great interest to sign the New York Mets’ first baseman Daniel Murphy. An inside source has speculated that the Dodgers management is all set to make another run at Murphy despite being rejected by the Mets’ organisation
at the annual Major League Baseball Winter Meeting last week.
The rejection of that particular offer was still a surprise for many who do not know anything related that offer. After a soft, in other words “no response” by the Mets franchise to involve in a trade, the Dodgers are once again preparing hard for another
potential offer in next couple of days.
The Dodgers’ general manager Ned Colletti is also pretty confident to sign a new player especially Murphy for the future seasons. This will create a huge upside down roar among the many other MLB teams especially in the National League. Not only the arrival
of Murphy in the Dodgers will make the league more competitive but it will also provoke many other teams to upgrade their roster as well.
Though, no side has agreed to involve in a trade but many are predicting this deal will be done in few days. The Dodgers however, have signed two relatively good players for 2012. Adding Jerry Hairston Jr. and Adam Kennedy in the roster earlier this offseason
is also a very futuristic strategy of the Dodgers.
This all has happened due to the tremendous efforts of GM Colletti and now he is pursuing a player who is very consistent throughout his two year career so far.
Averaging at .320 along with six home-runs, 49 total RBIs and .362 on base percentage in 2011 is pretty good performance at this particular position. People witnessed last season that he improved tremendously in 2011 if compared to 2010.
All these stats and active nature in the field has made Daniel Murphy is a pretty respected player in the league particularly at the age of just 26. His game has yet to flourish and if he also wants to come in the Dodgers franchise, his career will certainly
take a jump towards more competence.
