Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Washington Nationals fourth outing postponed again – MLB Update
The fourth outing between Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals that was scheduled to be played on Thursday, September 8 due to being rained out on Wednesday has again been postponed due to heavy rain.
The next date of the matchup has still not been announced by the authorities. According to sources, the game might be cancelled and the series will be announced as three-game because of the unavailability of free time.
Dodgers were ready to take the series to their name having a psychological advantage of two straight wins in the last two games but this rain has restricted them to just a 2-1 series triumph.
Dana Eveland was to take on the Nationals’ Ross Detwiler. Dana was looking for his second start while Ross was struggling to make impression in his eighth start of the season.
27-year-old Dana had more chances of a win than Ross as he has crushed the opposing team in his first start with the Dodgers. In that game, He permitted only one run over eight innings and struck-out three batters against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Dana now
will try to make his mark in the first outing of the three-game series against one of the strongest teams of the season, Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday, September 12.
Ross, on the other hand lost his last two games, allowing six runs in each. The 25-year-old hurler was under great psychological pressure to break his losing streak with some gritty performance but now he will have to wait for his next start against the
New York Mets in the second outing on September 13 of the three-game series.
Nationals were on the move to shorten the losing margin that the Dodgers have piled on in the 2011 season. Until now, the Dodgers are leading with a 4-2 thumping of the Nationals in each game. Nationals won only the first matchup of the season 7-2 and also
the first contest of this series with 7-2.
Injury Report:
Los Angeles Dodgers’ right-fielder Andre Ethier has gone on day-to-day due to consistent trouble of his right knee. He left the team for the day to consult with famous orthopaedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. Ethier is likely to join the club for the next
competition against defending World Series Champions San Francisco Giants on Friday, September 9.
Nationals’ Bryce Harper and Roger Bernadina each left the team for day-to-day due to injuries. Harper will not be a part of the Double-A playoffs due to his strained right hamstring. He has not been in action since suffering injury on August 18. Nationals
have decided to shut him down rather than risk more injuries. His comeback to the Majors level is still not confirmed as he has to prove his 100 percent fitness in the Arizona Fall league during the offseason, sources reported.
