http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Los-Angeles-Galaxy-c39818 hosted their Western Conference rivals Seattle Sounders FC in the Major League Soccer week-18 fixture on Monday, July 4. The Independence Day match’s first half ended scoreless.
Sounders might have been depicted as underdogs at the Home Depot Center but against all odds, the team put a great show in California.
The place had always been against them but coming on the back of three consecutive wins, the Rave Green were confident which was evident in the first 45 minutes.
The first try came just three minutes into the game when Seattle’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roger-Levesque-c31525 with a through pass in the box. The attacking midfielder’s chipped attempt flew just over the crossbar.
Sounders kept the possession of the ball for the next 15 minutes and created a couple of good chances but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tyson-Wahl-c35653 and Levesque both were called offside on their respective attempts.
In the 18th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Omar-Gonzalez-c28565 tried to stop the ball with his hand in the penalty area and the referee immediately pointed to the spot.
Montero stepped up to take the kick, however, his low shot to the left side was predictable and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brian-Perk-c8065 leapt to his right to parry it away.
It was a wakeup call for Los Galacticos and they made a good change in their midfield. Attacking midfielder Landon Donovan was brought deeper for better possession and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chad-Barrett-c8743 was deployed as the lone man upfront.
The Galaxy kept most of the ball possession for remaining minutes in the half. However, their long-pass game could not get results and the first half ended without any numbers on the board.
Seattle outshot Los Galacticos 7 to 3 with one shot being on target. However, the Galaxy held firm, notching just over 50 percent of the ball possession.
