After a suppressed performance in the first half, Bruce Arena tinkered with his squad and brought on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 to the right wing. Landon Donovan was deployed in defensive midfield in the first half and he manned the same position throughout the second period.
The Galaxy had a good possession game in the second half although could not capitalize on it.
The hosts started the second half with three attempts in quick succession with the first one coming in the 48th minute. It was then Erik Friberg’s turn to test his luck for Seattle but to no avail. Riley slotted the ball to the midfielder near the box. Friberg cut into the centre and tried a lob only to see his effort sail wide of the frame.
The match heated up in the last ten minutes of the game. Both LA and Seattle seemed eager to score on the Independence Day. However, the long-pass game bore no result for either side.
The July 4 match thus ended scoreless with both sides sharing the spoils with a point apiece.
