On Saturday, May 7, two Major League Soccer powerhouses in Los Angeles Galaxy and New York Red Bulls locked horns at Home Depot Center. The two giants battled it out for 90 minutes but the game failed to produce a winner as the two teams had to be content
with sharing the spoils. In a game where http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Todd-Dunivant-c35186 had excellent outings for their respective teams, the teams were at par in both the halves.
RBNY broke the deadlock early in the game. Thierry Henry received a through pass from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Donovan-Ricketts-c11558, he slightly ushered the ball into the net to take the early
lead. The visitors remained dominant for the next 37 minutes.
The hosts finally replied through a set-piece in 41st minute. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Landon-Donovan-c21646 in the penalty area and all it needed was a touch from the skipper for parity to be restored. In spite of their efforts, the two teams
failed to add to the scoring.
“It was 1-1 but it probably could have been 3-3,” Backe said after the match. “It was a fair result. It’s a very intense game, a very good game, probably the best you can see in MLS at the moment.”
RBNY skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thierry-Henry-c34918, played his best 90 minutes of the season so far and delivered an excellent goal to aid his team’s cause.
“I’ve said many times that we played a great game against Philadelphia, and we lost, but we’re just trying to pass the ball,” Henry said. “We’re trying to prepare and play the right way, and it was a very good game today.”
The respective Eastern and Western Conference champions had equal shares of possession and their passing accuracy was little different. The Red Bulls completed 83 percent of the passes, while the Galaxy were not far behind as they managed 80 percent accuracy.
“I think that tonight, it was great football,” Henry said. “We’re just trying to pass the ball and it’s refreshing to see that LA was trying to do the same. It’s a little sad that it was an even game, but what we’re trying to do is to play football, and
that’s what LA does as well.”
The teams have been in good form ever since the start of the season and their performance on the pitch was the quality normally seen in Europe. Both Backe and Arena would now be hoping for their respective teams to continue with the rich vein form as the
season progresses.
