at LA Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, July 16.
In 2003, David Beckham stunned the footballing world with his transfer from Barclays Premier League titans Manchester United to the Madrid giants.
“I spent four amazing years at Real Madrid,” Beckham said. “To go from a club like Manchester United to Real Madrid, it really doesn’t get much better than that in football. I’ve got many friends still there, many http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Friends-football-club-c39381 as players and fans and throughout
the club as well.”
Then in 2007, the player again hit the headlines with his move to the US in LA.
This is the first time that the player is playing against his former side while manning the right wing for the Galaxy.
Both teams have locked horns twice before, in 2005 and the last summer. Beckham graced the pitch along with legendary figures such as Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-Carlos-c31317 the first time these two sides met. The Spaniards won the match with a one sided
2-0 score line.
Last year he could not take to the field against his former employers as he was nursing his Achilles tendon, an injury that also kept him from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sporting-89-c40576 England’s jersey in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The Galaxy gave a good account of themselves against the nine-time UEFA Champions League winners and led the scoring 2-0 at half time.
However, the US outfit leaked three goals in the second period to give away the game to the Spanish side in front of 89,000 spectators – a sell out – at Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena.
“It was disappointing because you always want to play in those games,” Beckham said of his absence. “They’re exciting games, especially in front of a capacity crowd. Hopefully I’ll be good for this one.”
The player will now stand opposite his former teammates http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Ramos-c33096.
“To be facing Real Madrid for the first time since I left, it’s emotional,” he said. “You get attached to a club, you get attached to people in a club.”
The run of games promises to get even more exciting. While Beckham might not get the opportunity to take on his childhood club, Manchester United, he is scheduled to lock horns with his former rivals Manchester City on July 24.
